Colors & Background
Choose light or dark mode, an accent color, your background image, color or gradient, and status bar options.
Where These Settings Live
Open Settings → Appearance. Under Customize, Colors and Background each open a full-screen editor with a live preview. Changes only take effect when you tap Save. Press back without saving to leave everything as it was.
The same editors appear inside the theme editor, where your changes become part of a theme instead.
Colors
Settings → Appearance → Colors has three settings:
- Mode: Light or Dark
- Accent: pick a color from the palette. The accent shows up in highlights, active controls, and anything that uses an accent option (like accent icon borders or header frames).
- Status bar icons: how the clock and notification icons at the top of the screen are drawn: Follow Theme, Light Icons or Dark Icons
Tap Save to apply your changes.
Background
Settings → Appearance → Background sets what's behind your pages. Choose one of four kinds:
- Image: a photo or picture
- Solid: a single color
- Gradient: a blend between two colors
- Keep current: leave your current wallpaper exactly as it is
When you save an image, solid color or gradient, Tree Launcher sets it as your device wallpaper.
Image
Pick where the image comes from:
- Built-in backgrounds: a gallery of photos that ship with the app, grouped into Nature, Landscapes, Botanical, Sky, and Urban & texture
- Choose from device: pick any image from your phone with the Android photo picker
After you pick an image, the Frame background screen lets you fit it to your screen:
- Pinch to zoom and drag to position the image
- Use Flip horizontal or Flip vertical if you like, or Reset to start over
- Tap Use background
Framing never changes the original image. To adjust it later, tap Adjust framing.
Solid and Gradient
- Solid: tap Background color to choose the color
- Gradient: choose a Start color and an End color, then adjust:
- Angle: the direction of the blend
- Color transition: where blending starts and ends. A smaller gap between the handles makes a sharper transition.
- Color balance: favor the start or end color without changing the transition
If your text would be hard to read on the color you picked, a warning appears. Pick a lighter or darker color, or add an overlay.
Effects
Under Effects:
- Overlay: turn it on to tint your background with an Overlay color at the Overlay opacity you choose. A dark overlay helps light text stand out on a bright photo, and a light one does the opposite.
- Blur: turn it on to soften an image background, and set its Strength
Tap Save when the preview looks right.
Status Bar
Two more options sit under Screen in Settings → Appearance:
- Hide Status Bar: hides the status bar on launcher pages
- Status Bar Icons: the same Follow Theme, Light Icons or Dark Icons choice found in Colors. The status bar itself stays transparent.
Page Background Color
Give a single page its own background color:
- Open the page and enter Edit Mode
- With no item focused, tap Background in the edit toolbar
- Pick a color and tap Save, or tap Clear to remove it
Page backgrounds are colors only. Images apply to the whole launcher through Background above.
Item Colors
Color individual items to organize and highlight them:
- In Edit Mode, focus the item and tap Properties
- Tap the ... button to open the item's Options
- Tap Color, pick a color, and tap Save
Items that open elsewhere, like links, don't have a color option.
